Back in 2010, during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas, TX, Nike held a launching party for the new Nike Air Jordan’s that were coming out. A marketing firm in Chicago, representing the Nike brand, called us because they were looking for a window tinting company in the Dallas, Texas area that could install a special window film to be featured on shoe pedestals where the new shoes were to be revealed.

Their whole campaign was based on the premise that Michael Jordan, on the court, was somewhat of an enigma, and that it seemed he could almost create an illusion when playing. Basically, he’s here one minute, and then seemingly, he’s gone the next. So they wanted to create a marketing campaign to match that, which led them to a window film with a very special feature. They wanted Llumisty 007 window tinting film.

This particular film, and its counterpart, have one really cool effect. When you view this film from an angle it appears blurred.  You can see an example of this film applied to Windows in the image below. However, when you look at this film from straight on, it’s clear and you can see through. There’s also another version of this film that is blurred from straight on, but is clear and you can see through when viewed at an angle.

In the image above, is a shoe pedestal that features the new Nike Air Jordan basketball shoe, covered with a cake topper that has the Lumnisty window film applied to it.  You can’t see the shoe inside, until you look at it from the correct angle. Their whole goal of creating a marketing campaign that could emulate the way Jordan seemed to create an illusion on the basketball court was very successful, and this type of window tinting film proved to be the perfect product for them.
