Architectural Monument Sign for Parkview High School

Let’s say you need a new ground sign, something in between a post and panel sign and a monument sign.  You don’t want the sign to be dominating – – maybe something with a little more finesse.  Curb appeal is important… The new sign has to look good, and it needs to get the message across easily and quickly.  Oh, and you don’t have a big budget.

If any of that sounds familiar, an architectural monument sign might be the answer you’ve been looking for.  These highly-effective signs are extremely flexible in that they can be used in so many different ways.  Architectural monument signs can be used as a primary or secondary monument.  They can be used to identify your business, or your building.  They can be used as a directory sign, or a directional sign.

One of our very first sign projects was an architectural monument sign for Parkview High School in Lilburn, GA.  The administration at Parkview wanted a sign that could serve as a directory sign – – effectively directing both vehicle and foot traffic to a variety of campus buildings and offices.  The sign needed to be customizable, and easy to maintain or update.  They wanted to incorporate the school colors and the Panther paw logo.  Not only would the sign serve as a directional or wayfinding sign, it would also serve to communicate a reminder as to the educational mission.  We were able to provide an option that fit all of their needs.

The architectural monument sign at Parkview High School consists of two triangular posts (7” at the angle).   The posts are set in 36” deep concrete footings.  The posts and the cabinet extrusions were manufactured by Sign Comp, a premier manufacturer of architectural sign kits.  The original sign was installed in October of 2006.  The sign faces were powder coated, using Parkview’s orange and blue.  Nearly ten years later, the powder coating had faded enough that it was time to replace the faces – – so we went back and replaced the original .080 aluminum panels, and the sign looks as good as it did the day it was first installed!

Architectural monument signs are a great answer to a whole myriad of needs.  From serving as directional signs for large business, school, religious, or athletic campuses to serving as a merchant directory for a shopping center or medical facility to serving as a directional  or wayfinding sign, architectural monuments offer a cost-effective way to communicate your message with excellent curb appeal, and with a sign that will be easy and inexpensive to maintain.  If this sounds like a sign that makes sense for your business or organization, please give us a call or visit our website at www.bigmouthsigns.com.
