Houston, TX – Follow This Office Checklist for Commercial Recycling Efficiency

Posted in: Industry News

With so many things to pack into a workday, it can be easy to forget about the office recycling program. But by following this checklist for efficiency, the office recycling program can thrive.

Appoint an Eco Ambassador

The most important step for a recycling program to work is to first appoint someone to head up the program. This person should have a passion for the project. They will be the contact person for which everything will go through, such as scheduling recycling pick up or working with recycling companies to get set up initially.

Perform a Waste Analysis

After a point person is in place, it’s time to identify the type of waste most generated in the workplace. This will help determine what kind of recycling program will be the most effective and what bins will be needed to place throughout the office.

Analyze Office Floor Plan

One waste is identified, look at the office floor plan to locate convenient places to play recycling bins where they will be seen and receive the most use. Consider placing recycling bins in convenient places such as near office kitchens, copiers, printers, or other places frequently visited by employees. This encourages maximum participation by all.

Contact Office Recycling Experts

The final step is to start the wheels in motion by contacting an office recycling company to help get started. They can give you more information about the program, such as what materials are accepted at recycling pickup and what days pickup will come. They can also provide bins and signs to help employees out recyclables in the correct bins.

Once an office recycling program is in place, it’s all about keeping up with the program and making sure employees buy-in. Every office can do its part to keep our planet a cleaner, safer place. Contact Mission Recycle for more information.
