Posted in: Client Examples

Vehicle fluids aren’t the first thought that comes to mind when thinking about car maintenance. But it is essential for a smooth-running car and one that is trustworthy to drive on the road. For an efficient running car, it is important to keep up with proper auto fluid maintenance on a regular basis.

Engine Oil

Engine oil is what greases up the inner workings of the car to keep it running and performing at its best. To check engine oil, check the oil dipstick under the hood of a cooled-down car. It is best to have the engine oil checked and changed every 3 to 4 months or every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or as recommended.

Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid keeps a car’s gears running smoothly. Auto repairs involving transmissions can be very costly. To avoid this expensive repair, be sure to have an auto mechanic in your 60017 perform inspections regularly.

Transmission fluid that looks dark or has a burnt smell especially needs to be changed.

Power Steering Fluid

A steering wheel that makes noises when turned or doesn’t turn with ease may be in need of a power steering fluid change. This fluid rarely requires flushing but still needs to be checked regularly to top it off as needed.

Radiator Fluid

Radiator fluid keeps the car from overheating. If a car is used heavily, radiator fluids should be checked and topped off often.

If smoke is coming out of the hood, check the radiator fluid. But radiator fluid is pressurized, so be sure to let the car cool off before checking radiator fluid.

Brake Fluid

A car needs to be able to stop at a moment’s notice. Therefore, the car’s brakes must be in impeccable shape. Braking systems are hydraulic and rely on fluid pressure to make the car stop.

Regularly low brake fluid could mean it’s time to invest in new brakes. Brown rather than golden fluid also means it’s time for a change.

To keep up with auto fluids and repairs, be sure to schedule regular maintenance with your local auto mechanic at Liberty Garage.
