Pylon and Marquis Signs

Posted in: Industry News

In many instances we see Pylon and large marquis signs at major shopping malls, sporting arenas and at major auto malls. What we all notice is that these big tall signs are typically the size of a large billboard. Pylon signs will usually be on top of a metal pole or mounted between two of them. Generally the maximum size will be determined by city ordinances regulating the specific district or area where the sign is being located. Factors such as wind load and other safety factors, as determined by an engineer, will result in specific height restrictions and other safety guidelines.

The most obvious advantage of these types of signs is that they are large and highly visible which means they can be seen from far way. Often, both pylon and marquis signs are illuminated with the company name, logo and message. When used to communicate more detailed information, they can be designed to incorporate an LED display component. A trip along any major street or highway will confirm that these giant signs garner lots of attention and visibility. If you are considering placing or updating a pylon or marquis sign, give SignWorks a call at (510) 357-2000. We’re happy to help!
