Hayward, CA – New “Check Price Here” Sign For Trader Joe’s Retail Locations.

We continue to be blest with lots of work from Trader Joe’s and routinely produce banners for their new store openings, interior wayfinding signs, and exterior parking related aluminum signs.  These signs ship to many California store locations, and frequently out-of-state.  We have blogged about these signs many times before but the new addition to the SignWorks catalog offering deserved mentioning.  This particular sign is made of foam core, a light weight PVC that is coextruded and has a cellular core.  It measures 16” across and is 34” tall.  It is contour cut to reveal a hand pointing downward to the “check price” location within the store.  The picture is of the mock up sign we were asked to match.  This new addition reveals the same quirky characteristics that make the Trader Joe’s brand unique.

Trader Joe’s is very popular where I live and there are three stores in reasonable proximity to where I live.  In fact, I shop there all the time.  Sometimes twice a week. What draws me there is that their products are competitively priced and I love their broad selection of fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, wines and so much more!  Joe Coulombe founded the company in 1958 when he took over a small chain of convenience stores around the LA area and called them Pronto Markets.  Ten years later it became clear that the convenience store formula needed some tweaking and that’s when Joe opened the first Trader Joe’s store in 1967 in Pasadena, CA.  Once he noticed the changing demographics he leveraged his G. I. Bill benefits to garner a better education and decided to deliver something different.  The nautical theme he created has paid off and to this day his team members consider themselves “traders on the culinary seas.”  Team members are known for their bright, tropical-patterned shirts and for generally being nice, helpful, and well informed.
