La Verne, CA – The Instructional Decals for Two Trader Joe’s Locations Shipped!

Posted in: Client Examples

SignWorks  made good on our word that the decal project we started working on a week ago Monday would ship out on Friday!  The project required us to design and fabricate 200 each of the pictured decals and ship 100 of each to the La Verne and Westford, MA Trader Joe’s  retail stores.  These colorful decals (pictured), one at 8” X 8” and the other an oval shaped one measuring 10” by 6” turned out well considering the graphic elements had to be produced from a photograph since the original art could not be found.  Our designer recreated the artwork using Adobe Illustrator and the client approved the art proof quickly.

These instructional decals outline the safety requirements necessary before flipping breakers in the electrical panels while the other documents safe refrigeration protocols.

For the most part we have the majority of the Trader Joe’s art files loaded onto our system for these and other signs and decals.  Because some of the store hours vary, we sometimes have to modify the cut vinyl decals to reflect the correct hours at different locations. And, the Trader Joe’s art files include a variety of banners, parking signs, posts, signicades, delineators, and lots more.  We process their orders very quickly and ship the majority of them in a matter of days.  Like many retailers, they use a variety of cut vinyl decals including red address lettering and their logo for store windows, along with operating hours. Decals are pre-masked making them easier to install.

The brand identity at Trader Joe’s is very well-established and was developed over several years.  The retailer is popular where I live and I love the brand!  In fact, I shop there regularly because the products are priced well and because of the large selection of fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, wines and so much more.

Founded in 1958 by Joe Coulombe, the company began when Joe took over a small chain of convenience stores around the LA area and called them Pronto Markets.  Ten years later it became obvious that the convenience store formula needed some tweaking and Joe decided to open his first Trader Joe’s store in 1967 in Pasadena, CA.  Once he became aware of the changing demographics he decided to use his G. I. Bill benefits to get a better education.  At which point he decided to deliver something a little different and the nautical theme he decided on has certainly paid off!  His team members still consider themselves “traders on the culinary seas” and they’re known for being nice, helpful, well informed, and for their bright, tropical-patterned shirts.

SignWorks continues to be a go to source for many types of retail signs and graphics, and we’ve been supplying Bay Area businesses with signs and graphics for almost thirteen years.  If you have an upcoming project, just give us a call at (510) 357-2000 and one of our team members will be happy to assist.  We can design, fabricate and install everything from small decals to large building banners and lots of things in between.   For more information about our product offering, visit our website and view our project photos and blog posts.
