Oakland, CA – Submittals For Madison Park High School Signage Is Now Complete

Posted in: Industry News

SignWorks has worked on several school renovation projects that require signage. Part of the process requires us to provide submittals detailing our understanding of the construction drawings and specifications.  This time we are working with FOCON, an Oakland based Construction Company that we have partnered with on other Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) school renovation projects. In fact, we are currently working on signage for another OUSD school with another construction company.  And, we’ve previously supplied Americans with Disabilities (ADA) signs for two other Oakland schools in the past.

The submittals process allows for a formal review of what will be produced and gives the architect of record (LCA Architects) and the contractor an opportunity to revise sizes, materials and text to reflect changes to the plans.  It also allows errors to be corrected and clarifications regarding materials to be made.  In fact, we are in the midst of supplying some additional product data for the acrylic signs as the data supplied did not specifically reference that the material was suitable for exterior use.

While the architect did note some changes to some of the room names and made some other minor changes, we were given the go ahead to move the project forward to production.  We will first wait to hear from the client on whether they want material samples or full production samples.  Obviously, production samples will add several weeks to the process as the samples would need to be fabricated, just like a finished ADA sign would need to be.  Completion of this signage project is likely weeks if not months away but we’ll keep you updated on our progress.  The signage will include ADA restroom door and walls signs, room identification and exit signs for interior and exterior use.

If you are a building contractor or building owner looking for an experienced signage company capable of supplying a variety of sign types for school and college building renovation projects, then you should connect with SignWorks!  You can reach out to us at (510) 357-2000.  We are your source for design, layout and fabrication.  And, if you need them installed we can do that too!  Please visit our website to learn more about us, view photographs of recent projects, and read our blog posts.  We’re excited about the prospect of working with you!
