SignWorks  is happy to report that the Oshman Jewish Community Center banner project was completed this past Friday in Palo Alto, CA.  To say we did not have some challenges would be to bend the truth.  The banners arrived without the proper edge treatment and we deliberated about sending them back to be finished by our supplier Orbus.  Given that this would have involved some time loss and expense due to shipping the banners back and forth, we decided to work with a local supplier and have the edge treatment (hemming and grommets) done by a local shop capable of handling large building banners.

The local shop did an excellent job and turned the hem and grommet task around in less than a week.  However, we still had to wait on Mother Nature to provide good (dry) weather that coincided with the availability of the crew and the articulating lift!  These large banners when mounted on the building don’t look as large as they actually are and the 60 ft. articulating lift looks considerably smaller in the second picture.  Suffice to say that the 6 ft. wide banners are each mounted so the slanted edge corresponds with the sloping groove alongside the building in a symmetrical fashion.  The banners are sized as follows:

  • Banner 1: 297” left facing edge, 291” right edge
  • Banner 2: 282” left facing edge, 276” right edge
  • Banner 3: 267” left facing edge, 261” right edge
  • Banner 4: 252” left facing edge, 246” right edge

Our client loves their new banners which summarize their extensive on campus program and service offering.  The banners allows them to market and promote the services offered at their campus which boasts a sports and wellness center, premier event venue, and an on-site café.  Classes and programs include both educational and social opportunities for Jewish people of all ages to learn about Jewish and Russian faith, history, culture and the arts.

SignWorks would love to work with you on your next banner project whether it is large or small!  Take a look at our website and blog posts to learn more about our company and some of our recent projects.  Please feel free to contact us by phone at (510) 357-2000 and a team member can help you get started on your banner project or other commercial sign need.
