Oakland, CA – Evacuation Maps for Buddhist Temple Apartments

We have finally concluded the evacuation map project for the Buddhist Temple in downtown Oakland working with their architect.  The project was done in two phases.  The first one being the Church and school for a total of sixteen 14” X 14” maps.  The final phase is the ten remaining maps that were approved by the Oakland Fire Department for the apartment building.  They managed the approval process and installing the signs themselves.

SignWorks has produced a variety of evacuation maps for clients in Oakland, San Francisco, and Palo Alto.  While the majority of evacuation maps have been produced for building owners and contractors in Oakland, we typically perform a site survey to verify the number of maps needed per the fire department guidelines and the exit paths.  The survey includes noting all stairs and elevators as well as the placement of symbols for things like extinguishers and alarms.  In addition, we manage design layout, fabrication, approval copies and installation when the client requires it.  For clients who need us to handle the overall project management process, including the approval process and project management, we can do that as well.

SignWorks has designed, produced and installed so many evacuation maps, especially in Oakland, that customers can confidently check this task off their list!  These maps require the use of non-glare acrylic lens to ensure the map is readable even in the smoky conditions associated with a fire.  In a dark building when fire personnel shine their lights on the map it has to be readable and without any glare.
