A Second Refurbished Social Security Exterior Building Sign in Richmond, CA

After completion of the first sign fabrication project facilities management at the Social Security Office housed at the Frank Hagel Building in Richmond asked us to refurbish yet another of their exterior building signs.  We ordered another metal backer, the dimensional laminated lettering along with the accompanying aluminum plaque.  Having recreated the same sign once before made this second time project go even more smoothly!

Both the metal laminate letters and the aluminum plaque were sourced from Gemini and the 3 ft. by 12 ft. aluminum backer was supplied by our Hayward based supplier, Coast Aluminum.

The picture above shows the finished exterior, an exact replica of the original, minus the years of wear and tear.  As we did previously, we returned the backer and plaque in the event that the facilities team finds a use for them or can use these items on a future project. Recreating the sign was more cost effective and efficient that attempting to mask of the letters and clean/repaint the surrounding areas of the backer.

San Francisco’s Regional Social Security has more than 160 local offices and employs about 6,500 people.  The organization services 8.3 million people with a variety of social security, supplemental security income, retirement, disability and survivorship based programs and services.

The sign is very official looking with the multiple components used, including the color and font selections.  Its conservative appearance reflects stability and the stateliness we associate with many government agency sign projects.
