Project Update |Rentenbach Constructors Evacuation Maps

We are happy to report the completion of a major project for Rentenbach Constructors involving several evacuation maps for the Oakland Airport Federal Express facility. Recent renovations at the facility resulted in changes to the floor plan and the Oakland Fire Department required new evacuation maps to drawn.

Like all evacuation maps these were produced in a manner consistent with local fire and safety regulations and the lettering size, placement of symbols, colors, evacuation route and orientation had to be exact. The contrast colors had to clearly distinguish the building core and route to be taken in order to exit the building. It is also important that non-glare acrylic be used such that in the event of a fire, when smoke and poor visibility impedes fire personnel’s ability to read the map, that the impact of glare would be significantly reduced.

SignWorks had been involved in several similar projects over the years and our experienced staff designer’s understand these requirements, as well as the approval process needed prior to final fabrication. Attention to detail is critical and human error can result in errors so sufficient time has to be built into the process to prevent errors and unnecessary rework and delays. If you have an upcoming fire safety inspection or are considering renovations to your commercial building contact us for guidance with this process. You can reach us at 510-357-2000 or send us an email at info@signworks.us.com. We’re happy to help!
