Project Update |Alameda Police Memorial & Plaque

We are happy to report that we were selected to work on a fabulous project honoring two slain Alameda police officers. We would love to be able to take credit for the design of the Alameda Police Memorial Sign but must admit that the design was sent to us. The sign itself is quite unusual and features a slab of Corten, a metal that patinas with age and provides burnished green and rust tones over time. The sign lettering was cut out from the face using a water jet method and LED lights mounted onto the rear of the sign. The face was then butted to a sheet of Galvanized Aluminum. The finished back lit effect is exquisite and while the sign and landscaping are not finished yet, it doesn’t take much imagination to know that the final effect, once the plants are in, will be stunning. We will post more pictures after the final dedication ceremony in June.

We also worked closely with department personnel on a plaque which recognizes al the donors who contributed to the project. We will soon install the plaque atop a granite slant which has been placed nearby. Here at SignWorks we continue to expand our capabilities and to work with our partners to supply unique signage. Sometimes this requires out of the box thinking bringing the client’s vision to reality instead of redesigning the project or compromising on the actual look and feel of the sign. If you are thinking about a new monument sign, wall sign or plaque give SignWorks a call at 510-357-2000 or by email at info@signworks.us.com. We’re here to help you explore all your signage options.
