Chevrolet innovated raised-chip keys to prevent theft of their high-end cars. You will be unable to start your Camaro if these problems develop. Often we have to replace the special key and the ignition lock cylinder to correct this situation.

Door window motors are a frequent offender among all Chevrolet products. Symptoms of a failing power window motor are slow movement or the window stopping mid-travel. A failing motor will quickly overheat, causing a thermal switch to shut it down. Subsequently, the motor cools and starts working again. We will replace the window motor to correct this concern before you have the window stick open in a rainstorm.

Water pumps are not built well enough to last the car’s life because many Camaros have a composite timing belt that needs periodic replacement. We replace the water pump at the same time since it must be removed to get to the timing belt. If your water pump develops a leak, you must replace it before your engine overheats from a lack of coolant. While in there, we should replace the timing belt and oil seals.

Camaro transmission mounts are designed to soak up vibration from the engine and transmission. Over time these rubber components become rigid and unable to do their job. Since this happens over time, you overlook the decreased ride comfort. We will restore the factory ride by replacing these items.

The check engine light is the bugaboo of modern drivers, and the Camaro is no exception. The cause of its illumination may be a loose gas cap, or it could be one of the many sensors that send information about the running of your car to the central computer. We have the same diagnostic equipment as the factory technicians. A check engine light is not something to ignore, as the problem it alerts you to can cause poor running and gas mileage and shorten the life of other components.

Chevy V8s have a gasket between the intake manifold and the heads. There are passages between these parts carrying coolant and engine oil. In the worst-case scenario, engine damage can occur when coolant mixes with engine oil, diluting it. You may also get overheating. You can find this yourself by checking your oil frequently to look for water on the bottom of the dipstick. We will flush the engine oil and coolant and replace the perished gaskets.

Another weak point in Camaros is the fuel pump. A failed fuel pump usually manifests by the engine stopping and not restarting. We recommend replacing the fuel filter with major services not to stress the fuel pump.

If your battery is disconnected, “idle learn” should be performed. To do this, a technician needs access to a diagnostic module comparable to those used by factory mechanics. These symptoms may also be caused by a dirty throttle body or fuel injectors. We have this equipment, and doing it will result in a smoother idle and prevent stalling at stop signs. If you suffer from a poorly running Camaro, we will solve it quickly and cost-effectively.

If you have an older Camaro, a worn-out distributor may instigate poor running and illumination of the check engine light. Other problems could present the same, so bringing your car to us for a professional diagnosis is your best option. If your vehicle has over 100,000 miles, it needs new spark plugs and wires. These parts would be less expensive than a distributor. Trust us only to replace those parts your car needs.

Besides a failed fuel pump, a bad ignition module or crankshaft position sensor (CPS) may cause the engine to quit running and fail to restart.

If there is a leak, air goes into your cooling system, besides letting coolant out. The air/coolant mix will thicken and block essential passages, leading to overheating. Extended-life GM coolant, if exposed to the air, will need replacement before the recommended time.

Bring your Camaro to us for service you can trust.
