Milpitas, CA – Searching for a Honda Pilot Repair Shop in the East Bay Area?

Posted in: Industry News

We find the following recurrent problems with the Honda Pilot in our shop:

Vibration when braking caused by warped front brake rotors

We will replace rotors and brake pads to remedy the problem and give you years of trouble-free driving

Numerous electrical glitches

Our resident electrical expert will troubleshoot and get you on the road with minimal expense.

Knocking noise from the front end

This problem results from worn steering joints. We will replace those beyond their service life.

Differential noise

Noise from the differential results from fluid not changed when recommended or undue gear and bearing wear. Our technician will find the culprit and take care of it for you.

Check engine light on, engine running rough or not starting, erratic idle, and frequent engine stalls.

Our mechanic will run a computer scan to find the malfunctioning part, usually a sensor, and replace it.

Engine oil leaks

We will find the leaks and replace the parts necessary to correct the condition.

Chirping timing belt

By shimming the timing belt pulleys, we can correct this noise.

Sticky throttle

We will remove carbon buildup to correct this potentially dangerous situation.

Many of these problems may have been headed off by performing preventative maintenance according to the factory schedule. The Honda factory recommends major service for your Pilot at the following intervals:

  • Every 7,500 miles: oil change and tire rotation
  • Every 15,000 miles: brake inspection
  • Every 30,000 miles:

Replace spark plugs

Replace the engine air filter

  • Adjust drive belts and valve clearance
  • Every 45,000 miles: Replace brake fluid and coolant
  • Every 90,000 miles: Replace transmission fluid
  • Every 105,000 miles: Replace the timing belt

Regular oil replacement is necessary for engine longevity; the major service items are even more critical. The fluids in your vehicle are essential parts of your car. As well as lubricating moving parts, they remove contaminants from your expensive engine parts. We should flush your fluids before they become overly saturated. Engine oil lubricates the essential parts of your engine. Transmission fluid sends energy to the axle and smooths shifts. The fluid in your differential prevents gear wear. Brake fluid sends brake pedal pressure to the brake pads. Radiator fluid maintains engine temperature in the green. Power steering fluid sends steering motion to the front end.

Filters hold contaminants and need routine replacement along with fluid flushes. Your engine is an air pump; a clogged air filter gives you decreased performance and fuel mileage.  If your transmission performs poorly, transmission filter and fluid substitution could solve your problem.  Regular fuel filter replacement will ensure the fuel injection system works appropriately—old brake fluid results in rusty brake parts. Differential oil breaks down over time, and metal particles amass. A periodic flush can prevent gear wear.

Modern spark plugs are long-lasting but must be replaced on the manufacturer’s schedule. Worn-out spark plugs cause decreased fuel mileage.

A leaking coolant hose may strand you; an overheated engine may require a complete rebuild. We recommend replacing these components along with the timing belt replacement.

Worn windshield wipers will not efficiently clear the windshield on rainy days. Worn shock absorbers will result in amplified tire wear, poor steering, and terrible ride quality. Our technician will inspect all items that could give you problems along with each major service.
