Concussions are serious business….don’t ignore the signs.

Serving Lee County, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, Alva, Lehigh Acres, Fl

Dr. Lee Angle of Upper Cervical Health Centers in Fort Myers, FL. One of the things that I deal with on a pretty steady basis is post-concussion syndrome. if you’ve dealt with that you certainly know what it is. You have some kind of accident or injury, you get a concussion, you got the things that go with a concussion, but as the weeks go by, while maybe some of the symptoms are less intense, some of the things go away, you still have this lingering problem. Maybe it’s dizziness, you’ve got some brain fog, or it’s just hard to think straight. You feel fatigued all the time. All the things that you think of with a concussion, but the symptoms don’t really ever leave you and they start dragging on, and sometimes that can be weeks and months, and sometimes they can be years. So very often in that situation the problem is the brain itself has healed from the trauma. However, what hasn’t been corrected or wasn’t dealt with is a serious neck injury.

If you look at a chart and you take post-concussion syndrome and you take Whiplash and you lay them on top of each other, they basically have the same symptoms. Nearly 90% the same, so what I find in those cases are those people have again, the brain is healed, but the upper neck is still misaligned so it’s impeding some blood flow to the brain. It’s messing up nerve transmission that goes in there and can even block cerebrospinal fluid which sort of squeezes down on the brain, suddenly now we’re having some of those are all of those lingering symptoms that just won’t seem to go away. So they come in we find it, we analyze, we figure out exactly how that’s misaligned, and creating those problems very specifically. No twisting popping or cracking and jerking.  We correct that misalignment, return the blood flow to the brain, restore the proper nerve function, release that cerebrospinal fluid and suddenly now those symptoms that should have perceivably gone away before, really start to fade away. Life starts to come back. People recovering they do very well. So if you’re dealing with post concussion symptoms please get your neck checked out and let’s find out if that’s the reason and get you help.

There are many myths and confusion about how to care for your brain after you experience a concussion. Many people don’t realize the severity of even a mild concussion and that they can be caused by a direct or indirect hit to the head or body. Not all concussions are suffered by athletes while playing sports; falls and accidents can cause them too. All concussions are serious injuries that can have severe repercussions if not managed properly. Proper care during the first 7 – 10 days is crucial to ensure your recovery.
