chunky oversized jewelryWe love buying and selling vintage jewelry at Judy’s Jewelry Antiques and Estate Jewelry in Fort Myers, FL. In fact, we just got back from one of the largest jewelry shows held every year in Miami and we want to share with you some of the trends in antique jewelry we saw.

  1. Large chunky oversized jewelry is all the rage this year. Fashionistas are calling it XXL jewelry, and whether it’s a carved gypsy inspired ring with large semi-precious stones, or a bulky gold chain link necklace, these are pieces that make a bold statement. Think retro 1980’s and 1990’s bold gold look from Bulgari or Cartier.
  2. The elegance of pearls is making a comeback this year again. Although we think pearls never go out of style, there’s been an increase in interest again. More popular than ever are the Baroque pearls which are typically asymmetrical in shape and larger in size.
  3. Vibrant colors are resonating more this year, especially for spring. Whether it is large gorgeous semi-precious stones or color enameled jewelry, this is one of the fanciest trends of 2023.
  4. Yellow gold has returned to the fashion scene after several years of white gold getting all the attention. This precious metal has always been a vintage jewelry staple, whether it’s a chunky gold bangle from the 70s era, along with big gold hoop earrings, or the delicately crafted thin chain necklaces that are being worn three and four at a time in a “chain stack.”
  5. Chokers of all sorts are in style, from thick twisted gold to soft ribbon chokers with sweet filigree lockets. A choker can be worn with the most casual or elegant of outfits, which is what makes them so popular. The popular television show Bridgerton showcases many of the chokers that were trendy during the Regency period in England.
  6. Silver and turquoise Western wear jewelry inspired by the hit TV show Yellowstone is rugged and edgy and hot right now. Native American jewelry is a staple along with leather bracelets, horsehair bracelets and stacked rings.
