Form and Function Characterize New Directory and EVAC Map Designs

For a recent project, we designed a building directory that began with an acrylic panel. This durable material wears well and mimics the great looks of glass. Next, we cut frosted vinyl into stripes that imitate the appearance of frosted glass. By applying them with a separation, the panel now looks like a factory-etched and frosted surface.

Finally, we imprinted clear vinyl with the information of the various tenants, their suite numbers, and arrows pointing in the offices’ direction. These vinyl overlays are installed on the top of the material, which makes removal and replacement a snap if this becomes necessary.

We used a sheet of white acrylic that we imprinted directly with our UV flatbed printer for the EVAC map. Therefore, it was not necessary to add a laminate. The result is a highly detailed map that helps visitors to orient themselves, locate exit routes, and find other places on that floor.
