San Diego – Student Residence Hall Shines with LED Cabinet Monument Sign!

Collaborating with PCL Construction to Create a Highly-Visible Monument Sign for Student Housing

PCL Construction was entrusted with handling upgrades and beautification of the college’s campus. In turn, they entrusted us with the development of the monument sign. After receiving the client’s specs, we designed a product that includes a weatherproof setup for illumination.

Because there was already a pre-poured concrete base in place, we could focus our attention on the cabinet portion of the sign. We used aluminum in depths of one inch for the backdrop and a quarter of an inch for the lettering itself. We painted the backdrop gray to match the base. The lettering and accent piece were painted white.

Now, this sign lights up with LEDs that we hid in a weatherproof Lexan box. It creates a highly-visible contrast between the lettering and the backdrop. Students in search of the housing facility have an easy time seeing it even across the campus.
