Air Conditioning| Is Your Car’s AC Cold?

Posted in: Industry News

A regular customer of ours called me the other day saying her AC wasn’t blowing cold anymore. They were about to take a family trip south for their summer vacation and needed it fixed. I told her to bring it in so I could take a look at it and see what the problem might be. Now, this was a newer vehicle and it shouldn’t be having this problem. But the car was well out of the warranty period, so there was no way the dealer would cover the repair. She dropped off the car the next morning, and sure enough, nothing but warm air was coming out of the vents. Now, on vehicles newer than 1996, normal vent temperature with AC on high should only be 20 deg. cooler then ambient. This didn’t fit the bill. We hooked up our Refrigerant Recovery machine, and found a leak. After we made the repair, it practically blew ice cubes out of the vents! When she arrived at the end of the day, she jumped in the car and immediately turned on the AC. The look of relief on her face, and the smile that came next was pure satisfaction. She happily paid the bill and drove away with all the windows rolled up!
