Your mover should offer a free written estimate. Over 60% of movers will NOT come out and give you an estimate in writing. An estimate on the back of a business card does not count as a written estimate! If you ask for a written estimate, you should get one!

Be sure to request and receive a detailed estimate in writing. Be wary of any moving company that’s not able to provide this information. Ask that they include all costs in your estimate to avoid unpleasant surprises. Without this detail it will be difficult for you to accurately compare your estimates and you may not know your costs until the end of your moving day.
