Los Angeles, CA – Electrical Signage for USC Coliseum

Posted in: Client Examples

Our existing client, Advent, was working on the renovations for the USC Coliseum and needed a sign company to make and install some signs. They reached out to us as we had worked with them before and they knew that we would be able to handle the scope of the work. We made a total of seven signs for the renovation, six of which were electrical signs. We made a total of three signs for the 1923 club, two of which were reverse-lit channel letters and one was front-it and edge-lit. The reverse-lit channel letters were made with a brushed aluminum finish and installed above the concession stand windows. “1923” were reverse-lit and the line and “CLUB” were non-illuminated, however, they were made the same way, we just didn’t put LEDs in the non-illuminated letters. The third 1923 Club sign was installed on a wall on top of a map of Los Angeles. The letters were made with white acrylic and were both front-lit and edge-lit.

The signs for the Lou Galen Club we installed on stairwells so it was in a little bit of shadow which helps the LED illumination shine. Push thru letters are acrylic letters that are “pushed through” the backer panel. The backer panel, in this case, is 1″ thick white acrylic with a brushed aluminum face. Sign acrylic is translucent so the backer panel itself is edge-lit because it has white LEDs inside. The letters are also 1″ thick white acrylic with brushed aluminum faces so the letters are also edge-lit.

Lastly, we made two logo signs that were also edge-lit. This time, we used 1 1/2″ thick white acrylic and used both brushed and polished aluminum on the faces. The main portion of the letters uses horizontal brushed aluminum, while the border uses polished aluminum. Using different finishes of metal is a great way to differentiate what would normally be different colors in your logo when you are making a metal sign.
