Mounted Digital Prints for Memorial Park & Mortuaries in Hollywood Hills, CA

Forest Lawn and Mt. Sinai Memorial Park & Mortuaries needed some existing post and panel signs updated so we removed the existing faces and replaced them with new digitally printed faces mounted on aluminum. We were given both logo files along with the information that needed to go on the signs. Both signs needed to incorporate both logos and both logo colors so we went through a few different design revisions. First, the border around the sign matched the corresponding logo color on that half of the sign. After seeing a rendering, the clients decided that they wanted to use both colors in the border instead of splitting the colors half and half. We tried all blue, all green, and both blue and green before the final design was decided on. As you can see from the photos, the client ended up going with a neutral black border all around.

Once the design was signed off on, we started on production. The artwork was digitally printed onto 3M vinyl and laminated with a cast overlaminate. The reason we digitally print as opposed to using pre-colored vinyl is because we needed to use very specific colors for the sign. Pre-colored vinyl lasts longer than digital prints, however, pre-colored vinyl only comes in a limited number of colors that are not guaranteed to match your logo color exactly. Because digital prints can fade quickly, we used a higher quality overlaminate for these signs to help protect the color.

The vinyl was mounted onto white painted aluminum which was mounted on the existing posts. You may not be able to tell in the photos, but these signs are 8′ x 8′. Due to the large size and the size limitation of aluminum sheets, we had to make these signs in two 4′ x 8′ pieces. We try our best to mount the signs in a way so the seams are not visible.
