Glendale, CA – Keeping Tenants Happy with Updated Outdoor Signage

Posted in: Client Examples

The owner of a shopping center in North Glendale, California was not happy with their existing pole sign and was looking for a sign company to refurbish their sign. Only three of the faces were lighting up and many of the tenant sign faces needed to be updated so we planned to make a trip to see what the current lighting situation was and measure the faces so we could quote them on how much the replacement sign faces would be.

After visiting the location we decided that we would reinforce the structure of the sign and turn the box on the pole so it would be perpendicular to the street. The sign had been there for a while which is why we thought it would be a good idea to reinforce the structure. The sign was parallel to the street so you could only get a good view of the information on the sign if you were across the street from the plaza, or if you were already inside of the plaza. This didn’t make sense if your goal was to advertise to people driving by so by making it perpendicular, anyone driving on either side of the street would be able to see what businesses were in the center as they were driving up to it, not as they were passing it.

Regarding the illumination, we did an LED conversion as the existing light source was using tubes and the client wanted to switch to LEDs. LEDs are the new standard for signage and they are much more energy efficient compared fo fluorescent or neon.

We ended up making a total of 16 new sign faces for the pole sign. Some of the tenants that were listed were no longer there, and there were a few logo updates and new tenants so we updated all of the faces to help the sign look brand new. We use Tuf Glas for the faces as opposed to regular acrylic because it is more shatterproof.
