Canoga Park, CA – Custom Post and Panel Sign for Church Wayfinding

Posted in: Client Examples

Post and panel signs are a great option for churches because they are durable for outdoor use and customizable. First Baptist Church of Canoga Park reached out to us for a new sign to show visitors how to get to different areas on the property. They had an existing sign that was just a metal sign on a post that read “NURSERY” in black with an arrow. They wanted to add more directionals and wanted a sign that looked nicer.

The original design featured a panel that was held up by metal poles but we ended up making a post and panel sign because they are much more high-end and look much nicer. We use custom made vinyl frames that are great for outdoor use due to their durability. The frame holds the panel and creates a nice display as opposed to just bolting a metal sign on a pole.

We also updated the information that was displayed. We added their logo, church name, and the sign now directs you to the Worship Center, Pre-K Building, Snyder Hall which are the classrooms, and the office. We made sure that the client was happy with how the sign looked before we made it by providing mockups that they could approve and make changes to.

The panel in the middle is cut vinyl and digitally printed vinyl mounted on white sibond. As the background was going to be white and sibond comes in white, we used white sibond because it’s an affordable rigid material that is great for outdoor use. The black lettering and arrows are just black vinyl, and the logo and “CANOGA PARK” were digitally printed. The reason we didn’t use cut vinyl is because there were many different shades of green that we needed, and when we purchase vinyl, we need to purchase a certain amount at a time which would leave us with a lot of extra vinyl, and it would be much more expensive compared to digitally printing.
