The picture above on the left shows a home that we repainted in Thousand Oaks, CA for a homeowner. The picture to the right shows the home before we painted it. The repainted home looks fresh and new again, but there’s often a lot of work that needs to be done in between these two stages.
The most important thing when prepping a home for painting is to make sure the home’s exterior is sealed from things like rain and bugs. And to get the home properly sealed you need to repair all damaged areas like cracks in stucco and wood surfaces, chipped paint, etc. With this home there was an extensive amount of wood damage, so we sanded, scraped, and filled in the damaged wood surfaces with Bondo, the strongest patching compound available, to get the wood ready for painting. We also repaired all the cracked, chipped and missing stucco around the home.
As you can see, there is a lot of work that goes into getting a home ready to be painted. If you have an older home, it might require extensive repairs before painting can be done.
