3D Acrylic Letters for Cal State Fullerton Student Recreation Building!

We enjoy working on the Cal State Fullerton campus. In the past, we did van decals for the Cal State Titan Shops and wrapped a concession kiosk – among other projects. This time, the administration contacted us to talk about the design, manufacture, and installation of 3D acrylic letters for the Student Recreation Center building.

Previously, the Director of Student Recreation worked in the Athletics Department. After making the move, he realized that he needed a sign for the venue. Since we already had a well-established professional relationship with the campus, he called us for assistance.

We worked with the administration to put together a sign that fits in perfectly with the overall look and feel of the campus atmosphere. The letter font matches existing lettering on the building’s north side. Most importantly, it consists of long-lasting one-inch-thick acrylic letters that our installers spaced correctly on the available wall surface for a visually attractive presentation.

Why Choose Acrylic?

The material is as durable as it is versatile. In fact, it is fair to say that it is the ideal blank canvas. In its original state, acrylic is a see-through type of plastic that weathers exceedingly well in the Southern California climate. We can paint it in any tone you would like. For a sophisticated look, we recommend a matte finish. For a chic and artistic presentation, a glossy finish looks great. Most importantly, acrylic is excellent for letters as well as board constructions.

Other Material Options

Of course, acrylic is only one choice. You have plenty of other options open to you when selecting building letters for your school.

• Molded plastic. Many clients like the rounded facings of molded plastic. They are in direct opposition to the crisp edges of the acrylic die-cut look. Rounded forms can be ideally suited for your brand message. In some cases, the use of prismatic facings adds texturing that can further mimic the look of your online branding.
• Sign foam. When one inch of thickness is not enough, how about three inches? Sign foam makes it possible. This material is durable, paintable, and you can decide how long you want the sign to last. Do you need something for a short five years? Select and lower density and save money. Need something for ten years? Pick a higher density and spend a little more.
• Metal. The Cadillac among signage materials is metal. In particular, stainless or Cor-Ten steel is a favorite in Southern California. Metal looks elegant, complements your brand message, and emphasizes your longevity in any given niche.
