Wrapping the Twin KIAs – by Superior Signs and Graphics in Buena Park, CA

We recently did a wrap job for an office supplies distributor in Orange, CA that also sells printers and copiers. They had just purchased a couple of black KIA Souls for their Technicians to use when making service calls, and wanted to take advantage of the low cost advertising options of vehicle wraps.  These KIAs would cover many miles daily, and an attention getting vinyl auto wrap would get thousands of consumer impressions.

We chose to use the base black color for the design of the wraps which allowed us to use a ¾ wrap and still get the Wow factor of a full wrap.  The other benefits of this design are that there is a cost savings, and we are not wrapping the key areas that fail first in a vehicle wrap – the hood and the roof.  That failure is because those horizontal surfaces get hit the hardest with sun, and rain.  The challenge with our design which runs from the front of the doors backward, was to match the gloss black of the KIAs with our wrap.  As you can see in the photos, the color match was flawless.

The design elements chosen included some vibrant colors and images of HP printers and copiers that the office supply company sells and services.  They wanted to show great print output on the wraps as that would reflect on the perceived print capability of the equipment they sell.  Luckily, our large format HP Latex ink printer delivers exceptional print clarity and color, and did a great job displaying the design.

Because the KIAs are so small, they presented design space challenges, so we added perforated window vinyl laminated with an optically clear protectant.  This allowed us to continue the design across the rear and rear sides of the vehicles.

We used premium 3M cast vinyl and laminate on the KIAs to ensure that the wrap would last and that the colors would not fade.  Because we have such a large installation area at our facility, we were able to wrap both KIAs at once using a two man team which allowed the customer to get the vehicles into the field faster.

When the owners of the company arrived in person to pick up the finished KIAs, they were amazed by the vivid print color and definition – and the clean installation didn’t hurt either.  The office supply company has several new box trucks arriving in the near future and we are now their preferred wrap company!
