• Setting up the area by placing a drop cloth/ or protective paper. Moving furniture or other household items would be exposed to dust from the installation.
• Cut the power to the unit and begin removing the old unit.
• If Ductwork is required, the assistants will begin to fix the duct.
• Then once the duct is fixed or replaced, the crew begins installing the new unit, and depending on the scope of the project, this can take place both inside and outside the house and could last the entire day and into the next.
• Once completed, pressure and vacuum tests are performed. If everything comes back good, a refrigerator is added, and tests are done once again to ensure all moving parts are working appropriately.

Replacing an A/C unit is a delicate procedure only trained professionals should attempt. It can involve working in tight spaces and with electrical wiring; if one of these steps is not performed correctly could result in an issue setting back the installation.
