Located at 14941 Northam Street, United Performance Metals is a stainless steel supplier. It is an affiliate of O’Neal Industries. Initially, United Metals was displaying two large foam signs on its façade that highlighted its brand usage. When the business decided to combine both images into one new logo, it worked with a fellow Sign World member in Cincinnati.
This sign shop had designed and manufactured a reverse pan aluminum product for the client. It features a silver paint color and shows applied vinyl graphics. The mounting technique the client chose involves a frame that attaches to the building and lets the marker present with a perfect fit.
Hands-on Sign Installation Assistance
We received an urgent call from the sign maker. - Sign removal. Removing the old foam letters was the first job we would have to tackle. Because there were two signs, we would have to repeat the process.
- Adhesive elimination. To attach foam, installers used an adhesive and VHB tape. Now that we were reversing the process, we needed to remove all traces of glue and tape. Failure to do so would make the installation more challenging and prevent us from creating a perfect appearance.
- Painting. Some sign shops are satisfied just to uninstall a sign and put up its replacement. Doing so leaves shadows of the old marker that look unsightly. For this reason, we painted the affected portion of the façade to remove any hint of the old signage. This practice lets us create a blank canvas that results in a pristine mounting location.
- Permitting and installation. Since local zoning rules require us to file a permitting application before any installation, we handled all the paperwork. With the permit in hand, we installed the new sign with the mounting frame. Now, the company brands with one sign that we placed above the entryway.
