Do you remember My Gym at the Buena Park Mall? This business client is doing everything right when it comes to marketing a company. With opening day right around the corner, we have so far done “Coming Soon” banners, added a kiosk wrap and put up signage that got folks talking about the new gym. When it came time to put together the final signs and graphics for mall tenants in Orange County, CA, My Gym’s management team once again contacted us.

Putting Together a Façade Signage Suite for the Grand Opening

This time, we focused on the façade section of the business. We asked the management team to put a light blue coat of paint on one side of the property. Once the paint had cured, we installed white PVC lettering on the left. It spells out “My Gym” in half-inch thick material. The smaller lettering right underneath only features a depth of one-quarter inch and displays the words “Children’s Fitness Center.”

For the right side, we designed, manufactured and installed a wall wrap in a blue complementary color. It features the gym’s mascot, a monkey named Mimo, and is 12 feet tall. We used a matte vinyl with a matte laminate to make cleaning a snap. After all, plenty of kids are sure to want to touch the monkey as they come in. The look of the façade now anchors the business and succeeds at drawing the eye with the unusual color and cartoon image display.

Getting the Overhead Signage Just Right

The gym’s location is its greatest asset. Situated right behind a two-story glass atrium, visitors to the facility get to look down into John’s Incredible Pizza, which is a restaurant with an arcade. To enhance the visibility of the gym and draw some attention to the atrium, the mall’s management team agreed to let us install two LED backlit blade signs. These products feature an illuminated two-sided display.

They show off Mimo once again, highlight the name of the gym and display the tagline. We custom cut the signs to follow the contours of the mascot. Our technicians installed a sign on either side of My Gym’s space and positioned the products overhead to be in the path of the mall traffic. Since the illumination makes the white, blue and brown colors of the blade signs pop against the off-white color of the ceiling, it is impossible to miss them.

Planning a Mall Signage Setup for Maximum Visibility

Our experts are old hands at the design of signs for mall tenants in Orange County, CA. We have excellent working relationships with various mall management companies. This advantage allows us to guide your sign designs with their rules in mind. That said, we have found that there are three strategies to consider when planning your next mall signage setup.

  1. Understand the locations’ advantages. For My Gym, the advantage was the eye-catching atrium setup. For you, it might be the proximity to the food court, the line of sight from the escalators or your storefront’s positioning within the flow of the mall’s design. Gearing your signage to this advantage makes sense.
  2. Consult with your sign professional during the site survey. We like to conduct a site survey, which lets us take exact measurements of a venue. During this time, we also look at the signage used by neighboring stores. Doing so avoids any duplication that detracts from your products. At this time, we can narrow down your options.
  3. Enlist the assistance of mall management and the sign shop. Getting representatives of both entities to meet with you and agree on a sign plan is vital to the success of your setup.

If all of this sounds confusing, do not worry. Our professionals will be there to help you at every step of the way. Contact us today to learn more about the process and to get started on your order.
