A Signage Crush in the South Bay Area - San Jose, CA

To Love, Love, Love a Sign Company - San Jose, CA
Even though he is a dashing gentlemen, Doug Enns, the owner of a signage company in San Jose, CA called Mission City Signs, is not who his customers fall in love with. No it’s his signs…
“Doug, I absolutely love, love, love my new signs.”
That’s one line of a great testimonial from Leilia, owner of Pelo Salon, in Los Gatos, CA. I read the testimonial on Mission City Signs’ website and wanted to share it. They must be pretty good at making signs to get that kind of a raving review. To love something once is good, let alone 3 times.
Sometimes product information, examples, details, comparisons and lots of analyzing is the right way to make a business choice, be it for signs or for stamps. And sometimes the best way is just to check out what other people say.

Get your sign made from a Master Black Belt - Raleigh, NC
June 10, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
A Sign Company in Raleigh, NC with a Black Belt
Get your sign made from a Six Sigma Master Black Belt in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sounds dangerous! I think I’d be a little nervous around a person like that. Unless they were on my team of course and then I’d feel the opposite; really safe! I’m sure the other employees at SignCraft Solutions in Raleigh / Wake Forrest, NC don’t mind having Bob McEwen (The holder of the title Six Sigma Master Black Belt) on their side of the counter.
But what does having a black belt have to do with signage? Why does it matter if someone with a black belt makes your sign? That’s like having a software developer paint your house.
Well it turns out that this is not your typical type of black belt. It’s not a measure of proficiency in the martial arts. It’s a high level quality certification signifying excellence and it isn’t just handed out. With a BS degree in Civil Engineering, Bob McEwen has 15 years of experience in quality management and engineering in both manufacturing and financial services. He is very qualified in many different fields including signage.
And in signage it’s all about quality and a professional product. If I’m going to buy a sign and I have the option of someone with a black belt degree in quality, it’s not much of a choice. After all, everyone would love to have a black belt in something. Not only does it signify the mastery of something, it’s sounds cool.

Born To Be An Ear Doctor - Walnut Creek, CA
April 12, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
In Japanese the word mimi means ear. Dr. Mimi T Salamat is an ear doctor but she isn’t Japanese. But when she got into school and then became a teacher and then eventually opened her own practice she at one point learned that mimi means ear in Japanese. So it makes sense to brand her practice as Dr. Mimi’s Audiology Clinic, because an audiologist is an ear and hearing specialist.
Not to be confused with a regular ear doctor who gives you ear drops when you get an ear infection from too much swimming. Dr. Mimi is a hearing specialist, a hearing scientist, and when you have a hearing problem like tinnitus or if you want to make sure you’re being properly fitted for a hearing aid from someone who really knows what they’re doing, you go to an audiologist. And if you’re in the Bay Area you go to Dr. Mimi.
Dr. Mimi T Salamat is a practicing audiologist in the East Bay Area, in Walnut Creek, CA. She has a PhD, has been a professor teaching at a University and has two Masters degrees. In short, she’s extremely skilled and qualified. But more than anything she has a very gentle nature and freindly personality, which is not only a great trait or quality for anyone to have but especially when you’re working with people who are hard of hearing like the elderly. She has a real gift for her craft, she is brilliant as her credentials demonstrate and she makes everyone feel very comfortable in her office.

Electrical Guarantees Are Safe And Smart - San Ramon, CA
April 6, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
I like guarantees. Especially when it comes to trying to perform electrical work on my house with 1.21 Jigawatts pumping through it’s wirey veins.
But most people like guarantees just becuase we like guarantees. We like special promotions, discounts, guaranteed satisfaction and buyer security. It’s a coupon clipping, online promotion code of a world. The consumer market segment is where all the real hard core deal shoppers are; the shoe sale addicts, the flea market combers, the discount store deal sniffing regulars. We have warehouses full of family size scale packaging, 100ct minimum purchase options, 12 gallon mayonnaise jars, 80 roll toilet paper packages; anything to save some coin.
We pinch the penny, walk the extra mile in our holy shoes, and even spend an extra dollar driving across town to save a few extra cents on the gallon. So for the consumer who loves a great deal comes a great guarantee from a local electrician:
Electrical Panel & Main Service Guarantee
All work that is done on panels is guaranteed for 3 years. If there is any problem they’ll repair it free of charge. They also guarantee that all work will always be up to code.
When price is not much of a difference, and more than one company qualifies with lots of experience, testimonials, etc, there’s only one other thing that can help make up my mind…a guarantee.

Britney’s Flower Cottage - Small Shop, Large Store - San Lorenzo, CA
April 2, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
If you’ve ever been to Britney’s Flower Cottage in San Lorenzo, CA you probably remember one thing more than anything else. You probably remember the color of their flower shop. It’s a seemingly fresh painted bright pink spectacle of a building that is nearly impossible to miss. Located right next to the car wash on Hesperian boulevard, it’s a great place to stop by if you’re a local. But the shop is small, so if you’re looking for a bouquet or perhaps a single step rose, then great. But if you need a great big arrangement for say a wedding or funeral, you won’t but able to just drop by and pick one up. That’s because the shop is small. it’s a cottage after all.
But their store is BIG. If you need a big arrangement you can’t just stop by and pick it up. But you can order from their store. They have an online store where you can buy all sorts of flowers, plants, baskets, accessories and more. And they can deliver to you wherever you live. So just because their local store in San Leandro is small doesn’t mean their store is. With over hundreds of items at competitive prices shipped to the place you need them to be, their store can get your flower needs met. With most of their items being shipped via FedEX and UPS, you can you flowers delivered overnight if needed.
If you’re a local or in the area stop by their shop and see their amazing little store. If you’re at home, check out how big their store is online.

Does The Sign On Your Building Have Impact!? - Vancouver, BC - Canada
March 29, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
Depending your industry, the type of business you own, it will either make sense to have a louder logo, sign and branding or it may make sense to have a more subtle and quiet approach to your marketplace. Either way you still should have some Impact! with your brand, logo, sign, etc.
You might think of impact as being something loud with bright colors. But perhaps there’s a different distinction to be made between impact and volume. Volume would be the said degree of loud and soft in the above paragraph. Either a logo or sign is big and flashy like Vegas flashing lights or just a bright logo with a bright color scheme. Whereas impact would be more of a gauge of how successful the signage or logo or overall brand is for a particular company and their approach.
Every company has their own unique way to approach their market. Typically in many industries the louder the branding the more affordable the product or service, meaning, these companies seem to be price leaders and use this as their lead in. Whereas “cleaner” and more simple marketing approaches often lend to a higher end product or service. But no matter your approach to your marketplace, it’s very important to ask whether or not the approach works well. Is there a strong brand and recognizable message that makes sense for the particular business’ specific approach? Does their logo, signage, branding have impact that works for the particular business?
This is where a signage company can really help for those who aren’t sure. They can help you to makeover your branding if necessary or simply provide the signs and branding that you need based on your current approach. Impact signs in Vancouver, BC, Canada understand the importance of have the right signage and making sure your brand has Impact!

An Auto Detailing Shop With An Ace Up Its Sleeve - Honolulu, HI
February 7, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
There’s an automotive detailing shop in Honolulu, Hawaii with an Ace up its sleeve. They have over 30 years of industry experience and have a tremendous amount of skill and experience. They’re the number one mobile detailing service in Honolulu (and probably a lot further than that) and they pride themselves on taking your car from, as they say, “dull to dazzling.”
But this company is more than meets the eye. They have an ace up their sleeve. They have the BOHA award.
In 2009 Auto Detail Aces won the Best of Honolulu Award in the Automobile Detail & Clean-Up Service category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA). Check it out. Click here for the original press release at us-ca.org.
It raises your eyebrows a bit, doesn’t it? From a prestigious award of excellence to great customer service to a happy referral source, it’s that extra bit of confidence that helps someone make their decision as to where they want to take their vehicle. For the business, it’s the Ace in the hole.

The Story Of The Auto Repair Professor - Pleasant Hill, CA
February 4, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
Nestled between the rolling hills of Contra Costa County, California, seated in the flats of the Pleasant Hill / Concord basin begins the story of the auto repair professor…
Just kidding! Wrong tone for this tale, but it’s still a cool story…
It’s kind of a David and Goliath, or an underdogs vs champs story. In the auto repair world there’s the auto repair shops, and there’s the “almighty” dealers. Not exactly the Capulets and the Montagues, but you can see where the debate might begin; dealer vs shop.
There are pros and cons on both sides of the equation and typically both will plead their cases admirably. But in the end, the dealer often seems to profess a better technician, better service and thus, appropriately, a higher price. Conversely, the auto repair shop argues equal service at a more affordable price.
So who’s right? Who wins? Who’s the victor of this timeless debate?
I have no clue. But I do know one such tidbit that is particularly interesting…
Doug Mueller is an auto repair expert that’s been helping people in the Contra Costa area for a long time. And when I mean people I mean other auto repair experts. You see, he runs an automotive training program where he holds advanced classes for those looking to further develop their automotive skills and knowledge. With classroom sessions and hands on training he helps take technicians to the top of their potential.
Where it gets particularly interesting is he trains professional mechanics from dealerships. Local dealerships send him problems that their technicians can’t figure out. So if you think back to what each side is saying, something doesn’t quite add up. That’s all I’m saying!…
So if you have a tough problem that needs solving, you can either (a) take it to a dealer, or (b) you can take it to the professor.

From Commercial Signage To Vehicle Graphics, Mark Your Space! - Chicago, IL
January 31, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
Mark your space! Not to be confused with mark your territory. This is a great slogan. In an economy when many are downsizing, it is important to not stop advertising. It’s the lifeblood of your business. Even if your only form of advertising is you making cold calls, it’s still you’re advertising and you can’t stop. Many even increase their advertising to compensate. So if your advertising is highly integrate with signage, then you need to make sure to mark your space and keep your brand strong in your local market.
Depending on your industry different forms of signage are more appropriate or simply just work better. And Mark Your Space signage company in Cook County Chicago near Bartlett and Elgin, IL reminds us that it’s important to utilize all forms of signage that will help us to get our name to our target markets and keep our space marked. From vehicle graphics to commercial signage, Mark Your Space works with their customers to help them determine which forms of signage will traditionally worked best for your industry as well as keep budget concerns in mind at the same time.
If you’re a flower delivery company you might need more signage, for example: a building sign that’s perhaps a back lit sign, signage for your windows, a neon sign to let everyone you’re open, and vehicle wraps on your delivery vans.
In contrast, if you’re a liquor store owner you might only need a neon sign and a standard building sign.
Whatever type of business you own, it’s important to impress your brand and image upon your target market because if they forget about you they will forget to call. And in order to do that, we mark our space.

Bundle Your Services With State Farm Insurance Packages To Save Cash - Concord, CA
January 28, 2010
By John Kitts, CityScoop Staff Writer
Bundle your services with State Farm and save cash! I know you can save a lot with State Farm Insurance because I can speak from personal experience.
I went to audio engineering school to learn how to record music professionally and so I’ve always had expensive electronics in my home. So I wanted to get renter’s insurance to protect all my investments. I switched my car insurance over to State Farm and added on the Renter’s Insurance too. Soon after I ended up with a second car and added it to my policy. I got a multi vehicle discount for that one too.
Add on life insurance, maybe home insurance, motorcycle insurance and you might be really saving some money. If you have multiple vehicles or need multiple types of insurance, you should see what you can save at State Farm, not to mention the personalized service you get when you have your own insurance agent. If you’re in the Concord, California, you should speak with Matthew Rinn. He’s one of State Farm’s best.
