According to The Concord Police, the man on these video surveillance photos is responsible for the robbery at Metro 1 Credit Union on Willow Pass Road in Concord, which happened on Thursday, February 24th, 2011.
The Hayward Police reported that the same man is likely responsible for a similar crime – bank robbery near Southland Mall at about 11 AM on Friday, February 25th, 2011.
Hayward police Sgt. Steve Brown said he reviewed surveillance images from both scenes and there is little doubt that it is the same person.
“Everything is similar to the one in Concord,” Brown said. “They could be twins. The same big nose, the head wrap, leather jacket, the way he’s holding himself.”
Brown said the man may also have robbed a bank in Marin County earlier this week.
The suspect is described as: Male, possibly light-skinned Black, Middle Eastern or Hispanic, 25-30 years, 5’10”-6’, thin build, wearing a white head wrap, dark blue leather jacket, two-toned blue striped shirt. The suspect left the bank and fled in a white 4-door car, possibly driven by a Black female.

What is a CCTV security system?
A CCTV security system is a set of components installed to record the evidence. They are generally made up of a set of cameras, a DVR (recording device that often looks like a computer and includes a keypad and a mouse), a monitor, connectors and is wired. Its effectiveness is significantly improved when the system is maintained on a regular basis. It is crucial that the system is performing its best 24/7.
Is a CCTV security system really necessary?
Cases of burglaries and thefts are on the rise, and more and more business owners are becoming concerned about their employees and their properties. A CCTV security system makes your place of business a less likely target of break-ins and employee theft. Beside, if the unpleasant still happens – you have hard evidence to use in your own investigation or to give to law enforcement.
How does a security system fend off would-be burglars?
About 90% of burglars would prefer to break into places without security systems. These criminals want the easy way in; they don’t want to risk an alarm going off or cameras filming their faces and actions.
Is the system easy to use?

When you think of getting CCTV cameras, you probably have a reason. First, you need to know what you need those cameras for: general view? night vision? day and night surveillance? license plate recognition? employee theft prevention? or may be all of the above, and then some? It’s pretty easy when your reason is small, such as you’d like to know if your neighbor takes her dog out to your lawn. Usually, Costco cameras will do for that one. You won’t get face recognition, and night vision won’t be that great, but you’ll know if that dog digs in your yard. Just make sure that whoever installs your cameras has a C-7 license (low voltage license that is needed for CCTV installations in CA). Now, if you’re planning on scanning license plates at the gate, or zoom on the cash register, it becomes more complicated. You’d have to calculate the angles of the views, figure out lighting conditions (remember about reflections from the windows!), use the right lens, choose whether you’d want to use dome cameras, box cameras, or maybe even hidden cameras, such as our smoke detector cams. This article is written for people who are considering security cameras, but have no experience with them. CCTV security cameras take a motion picture and forward it to a central security board on a closed circuit, inaccessible by the public. Most cameras today record the motion picture digitally, and the data is stored in digital form on a hard drive. They’ve been on the market for a few decades now, and the prices have been falling steadily, making them more and more available to small business owners, as well as people, who want to protect their property and family.
Dome cameras. Dome cameras are cameras inside of a small semi-transparent hemisphere. The basic idea is that people can’t see where the camera is pointed. It is more discreet and has a higher retentive efficiency.
Color cameras. Color CCTV security cameras record a color motion picture, which is useful when trying to identify a criminal. Color video takes up more storage space and these cameras are more expensive than black and white cameras.
Fake cameras. Fake CCTV security cameras offer a very cheap alternative to functioning cameras. They are only useful for their retentive effect. Some companies do not recommend them, saying that fake cameras equals fake security. But we say, when it comes to budgets, having a low cost fake camera system is better than nothing at all.
Face shot. Get a good face shot! Use higher quality cameras at entry areas. Doors, gates and other entry areas need good quality, high resolution cameras to record a good ‘face shot.’ This video shot is very valuable since it can be used as evidence in identifying a person in court.
Wide Angle Cameras. Wide angle cameras are usually used for large surveillance areas. Once you get a good face shot, you should use a wider angle camera lens for the general view of the interior of the building. Using color wide angle cameras inside your building is a good idea because you can easily identify the person by the clothes they are wearing. Used in conjunction with the face shot at the entry point, you have an excellent record of all people and activities in your surveillance areas.
Bullet Security Cams and Domes. Bullet cameras and domes are low cost and high performance. They can be uses indoors and outdoors and available in color or black/white. Dome and bullet cameras come in many shapes and sizes. Good quality black/white cameras start at about $80 and good color cameras start at $150. When you’re budgeting, remember, that having a low cost black & white camera is much better than a fake camera!

Sadly, in the last few months we have installed as many hidden cctv camera systems as in the last few years. Employee theft is rising, offices get broken into, cash is dissapearing before hitting cash registeres, even food from restaurant fridges never gets where it was supposed to go. We have installed hidden pinhole cameras in the walls, ceilings, and vents. We have created alarm clocks, lamps, and mirrors with hidden cameras in them.
