Mustang Performance Parts Tip – Horsepower with the right mufflers
May 18, 2009
One of the things that I’ve learned in my owning different cars is that you need to have a good flowing exhaust system to get the the most out of your engine. Currently, I have also learned that you don’t need to drop a small fortune on a whole new exhaust system to get the most out of it either. Although separate pipes for each header is ideal, just getting the right high performance mufflers for your Mustang can do just as much good in the ol’ horsepower depot.
First, you want to do your research as to which muffler will fit your needs. Wheather you want somthing loud, and obnoxious, or if you want somthing more tame, with a deep, throaty rumble to it: that is somthing that’s up to you.
Second, what muffler would go best with your engine? If you already have a supercharger for instance, you won’t need to go all out with a whole new exhaust system in this case. How much more horsepower are you trying to generate? What’s the application for? Are you for all-out racing, or for a personal everyday user? Again, the choice is up to you. Remembering the chambers in the muffler of choice will greatly affect how loud, or quiet your engine will sound, but most importantly, how much more flow you will have. That is the most important thing.
Wheather you go with Borla, Pypes, or Magnaflow mufflers, just make sure you use the right application for your horspower needs.
